“One of the Christmas traditions in my neighborhood is to give small gifts to all the families…Here’s a recipe and a little blurb about Christmas in the States. One of the Christmas traditions in my neighborhood is to give small gifts to all the families. Our family bakes a variety of cookies and gives them out on Christmas plates. Another neighbor makes a CD with their favorite music, and  there’s another family that gives a Christmas Tree ornament every year. This is a fun tradition that some neighborhoods in America take part in. One of my favorite cookies that we make is Ginger Snaps. Here is the recipe: Ginger Snaps: Ingredients * 2 cups flour, * 1 tablespoon ground ginger, * 2 teaspoons baking soda, * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, * 1/2 teaspoon salt, * 3/4 cup butter, * 1 cup white sugar, * 1 egg,  * 1/4 cup dark honey, * 1/3 cup sugar (extra)
Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C. 2. Sift the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir the mixture to blend evenly. 3. Place the butter into a mixing bowl and beat until creamy. Gradually beat in the white sugar. Beat in the egg, and dark honey. Sift 1/3 of the flour mixture into the butter mixture; stir to thoroughly blend. Sift in the remaining flour mixture, and mix together until a soft dough forms. Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll into small balls between your hands. Roll each ball in the extra sugar, and place apart on an ungreased baking sheet. 4. Bake in preheated oven until the tops are rounded and slightly cracked, about 10 minutes. Cool cookies. Store in an air tight container.
